Reinforcements Sue
Mabbett and Jules Carter arrived, replacing several people who had
left during the week. Jules continued the work in the No.3
porch to render and tile the sink splashback; Sue agonised over what
colour to paint the Married Common Room and settled on yellow again. |
|
Ladies Showers With
Ladies Showers now partially trashed, the next job was to replace
the window lintel with concrete ones. Thomas Moore found that
the old one was in extreme need of going to the bonfire; it was wet
through and rotten. Even by the dubious standards of Powell
Street lintels, this one was bad. |

Still up there ..... The
chimney party were still up there adding courses of blocks.
This time they had left their tent up, but in the end did not need
it as the weather had improved.

|
Long Common Room fire Before
the chimney could be lined, a new fire back had to be
installed. Simon Amatt worked out the rather complicated
layout to ensure that the fire and grate were in the right place,
then cemented it in. |

No.3 painting The
heavily used corridor to the Gents Showers and Changing Room, plus
the stairs up to the drying room had not been decorated for
years. Nick Davies and Thomas Moore removed some render from
the stairs wall as touching it with no more than a paint brush would
have brought it down anyway.
