Ogof Ffynnon Ddu I Approach Route

In December 2018, the route to get to Ogof FfynnonDdu I (Bottom Entrance) changed.

You should not use the garden of the cottage at Y Grithig to get to OFD I. In addition, you should no longer use the footpath (known locally as The Pant, x x x x on the map below) which starts approximately 150m past the houses as you go down the hill. This is because access to the cave entrance from the bottom of The Pant is no longer possible as you would be on private land which cavers do not have permission to cross. Furthermore, you should not park or change in the bottom lay-by or in the road leading pass Y Grithig as there is no longer access via either route.

 If you are walking from SWCC HQ, take the road down the hill past the start of The Pant  footpath on your right and after about another 350m, just passed Powell's Cave, to a set of metal gates on the right hand side. Go through the smaller of the two gates. You can the descend across SWCC-owned land to the entrance by following the path (shown by - - - - on the map below). It is well trodden and should be clear to follow.
