A
Bedside Book for Older Cavers
Our own John
Gillett has been busy writing again, and
his latest offering is an excellent and very readable book. He mixes
his caving memoirs from around the UK and abroad, with his own philosophical
take on getting older. In fact it's well worth reading by all ages!
"Today
the stream-way was a pleasure to be in after the muddy passages
and boulders above. The stream ran along a beautifully scalloped
passage, about five meters high and four wide, with occasional deep
pools, small waterfalls and bends, where the current made the water
rise up on one side of the passage. We made good progress, enjoying
the rush and refreshing spray of the water, wading through the deeper
pools . ."

Marketing
help needed - by Krysia Groves:
Taking advantage of being able to reach such a diverse group of
people via SWCC membership (always worth a try) I'm making an appeal
for anyone who has any level of expertise in marketing campaigns.
Although this is related to my work and nothing to do with caving
I'm wondering if there is anyone willing to share some thoughts
on how to reach out and grab people's interest, all ages.
I need to attract
the attention of a community and encourage their active engagement
- I'd like to go a bit beyond a poster. I'm thinking branding, creative
advertising, competitions, use of QR codes - does anyone know how
to generate and use these??? I'd love to hear your creative suggestions
- email me - editor@swcc.org.uk
- if you have any and I can fill you in on the details. Thanks :-)
