Dogs
at SWCC from Paul Meredith ~ Chairman
Members, guests
and visitors have long been allowed to bring dogs to SWCC and to
bring them into certain areas within the main HQ as defined in the
Club Rules - Rule 12. Application and adherence to this rule has
been variously flexible over the years but it is there to be enforced
if the situation so demands.
The Committee
have, on a number of occasions, sought to draw dog owners
attention to the sensitivity of the dog issue and asked them to
act accordingly. Whilst some have responded in a positive way there
remain those who have not. The Committee have therefore again been
asked to review the situation.
Given that the
previous light touch response has not been wholly successful
the Committee has regrettably felt that clarification, strengthening
and a request for a more robust adherence to Rule 12 is required.
This is not
an attempt to ban dogs from SWCC but rather an attempt to ensure
that the health, safety, comfort, enjoyment of all those who stay
at the HQ is not compromised by the inconsiderate actions of a few.
The revised Rule 12 now reads as follows:
Animals must
not be brought into the sleeping, cooking or dining areas under
any circumstances.
Animals may only be brought into the two Common Rooms in cottages
8 and 9 and only providing that no one present objects.
Animals shall not be fed within the main HQ building. Animals upon
SWCC property shall be under direct supervision at all times.
We would ask
that all those who use the cottages respect this rule change and
act accordingly.
