Working
Week ~ 24th May - 1st June ~ from Chris Grimmett
Once again,
the Working Week is nearly upon us and as ever, there is a huge
amount of work to be done to keep the Club headquarters going. This
year we do not have one large project such as last year's rebuild
of No. 8 and the Gents' Bathroom/Toilets. Instead, we have a very
large number of smaller jobs that need doing along with a few more
serious ones that need immediate attention.
At the Club,
everybody prefers the toilets to flush, the sinks to empty and a
night's sleep without water dripping on them from the ceiling. Looking
after the headquarters to make things work properly takes a lot
of work and all we are asking is some of your time during the Working
Week period to help. There are plenty of jobs, large and small for
both the skilled and unskilled, eg:
Gutters, downpipes
and leaking roof and chimney to repair, block holes in No 6 porch
roof, insulate and re-line, maintain the central heating, gravel
fill and level the low points in the car park, paint numerous walls
and ceilings, clean the showers, re-plumb kitchen taps, prune a
number of trees, repair picnic table, and lots more!

It gets really
busy especially on the last weekend, so if you are around that weekend
please be prepared to get down and dirty with a broom, paintbrush
or rubbish bag.The Club will be in a mess and there are no guarantees
that you will be able to access all areas as you would normally.
Come for just
a day or for several, and we will put you to good use. Please let
me know by e-mail c.m.grimmett@btinternet.com
or telephone 01477 533786. And if you would also like to fed by
Dragons, then e-mail LeL Davies lel_davies@btinternet.com
or telephone 01639 730771.
Thanks, Chris
