SWCC Subs - by PCW and Lel Davies

Hi folks - with apologies for the delay (we were hoping that on-line payments would be available but the bank still haven't sorted it out).

You may remember that we are moving the subs year from May to September and so the amount this time is 1 1/3 of your regular subs plus two years BCA insurance - this current year and next year. See the original news article. Subs rates have not increased from last year. Please send one cheque to Lel as soon as possible, details below.

Full Member:
£57 plus £17 BCA card for this year plus either another £17 for next year's BCA or non-active BCA @ £6 if you no longer wish to cave!
Example: Full member caver: £57+£17+£17=£91

Joint Members:
£84 for both, plus £17.00 bca card each for this year plus either another £17.00 each for next years bca or non active bca @ £6.00 each

Example: Joint members caver (total): £84+(2x£17)+(2x£17)=£152 (£76 each)

Retired Member :
£38 plus £17.00 bca card for this year plus either another £17.00 for next years bca or non active bca @ £6.00

Example: Retired member caver: £38+£17+£17=£72
Example: Retired member non-caver: £38+£6+£6=£50

Joint Retired:
£57 for both, plus £17.00 bca card each for this year plus either another £17.00 each for next years bca or non active bca £6.00 each

Example: Joint retired caver (total): £57+(2x£17)+(2x£17)=£125 (£62.50 each)
Example: Joint retired non-caver (total): £57+(2x£6)+(2x£6)=£81 (£40.50 each)

If you are a full-time student caver, your BCA payment will be £8 not £17.

If you are a Provisional member or became a full member after May 2014, or are not sure how much to pay please contact Lel, who will be happy to let you know!

A Small Mammal's Demise - by Chris Grimmett

The SWCC Risk Management plan includes a requirement to control vermin and you can rest assured that we continue to do this in ever more creative ways.

Despite the kitchen toasters being plugged in and primed to catch their next victims, the latest casualty was found in the No.8 bathroom. It seems to have been attempting a 2½ Somersaults and 1 Twist in the Pike position from the top of the cistern in the appropriately named Trap 4. Sadly it failed to go home with a medal, the Russian judge giving it a decent 3 points for degree of difficulty but an execution score of only 5½. As it happens, any medal would have had to be awarded posthumousely.

Richard the Furred as we believe the casualty was named, was found by a Mr. R.A. Richardson when he visited the Club last weekend. A post mortem was indecisive; the cause of death most likely having been drowning or hypothermia. Richard's mortal remains were consigned by the usual route to the septic tank where he is now decomposing, surrounded by a large number of his namesakes.
