Loads of news this time - grab a cup of tea and get stuck in!

Caving on Access Land - from SWCC Committee

As you probably know there is considerable discussion at national and regional levels of the caving world concerning the relevance and legality of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 (CRoW) as it may or may not relate to access to caves. You should be receiving a ballot pack from the BCA about the CRoW issues in the next few days, if you have not already got it. The Committee have been and will be discussing this issue next weekend and intends to provide members with a statement, via e-news, to put these discussions into context in relation to our own cave locality. It is hoped that this will allow members to make their own informed responses.

Please feel free to write to us via secretary@swcc.org.uk this week to share your views.

Horrible Kids: The kids team at SWCC during the Fireworks weekend wanted to make a horror movie in a cave. The entertaining result will receive its first live big screen showing during the next committee weekend, December 6th (evening), although sneak previews are possible on YouTube. If you are planning to be at the Club then, you are invited join the audience and show your appreciation for their hard work! - from Andy Freem

New Members get to know SWCC: On the weekend of 13th-14th December, some of the newest members of the Club are at the HQ to learn all about the facilities and how to run the cottages when in a Duty Officer role or there midweek. Caving trips focused on learning to use the new survey to feel confident at leading in OFD will also take place. It will be really nice for as many longer term members to introduce themselves and, if possible participate, to help our new members feel at home and central to the Club's future. - from Andy Freem

SRT Training: Most enquiries to the club training officer are be about SRT improvement. It seems important that the best possible and current practices on this are followed in any SWCC official training. I therefore hope to arrange a course at Penwyllt run by a certificated instructor. Although some BCA subsidy may be available, this will still cost participants money , though how much may well depend on the interest and confirmed intent of members to participate. If you are interested, please email training@swcc.org.uk to start the ball rolling. - from Andy Freem

Electricity comes to Ystradfellte - from Ian Alderman

Ian found this delightful article and video of how underwhelmed the locals were when electricity arrived in Ystradfellte, across to the east from the Club.
