New Year

Harvey has volunteered to organise the food, buffet style, for the traditional club New Year party [well done Harvey]. Can you let him know if you are planning to come up, so that he can plan quantities. He is also particularly keen to hear from anyone who is prepared to help.

Club 70th

The club 70th is approaching and we have always had a logo for such events in the past, so if you fancy flexing your graphic designer mojo, please send ideas to Gary.

Logo aside, plans for the 70th are coming along nicely and you should recieve full booking details from Gary soon.

Water Levels

Allan's OFD1 water level guage has been working well over the last month or so. The latest readings were downloaded on Sunday, they showed that on two occasions in the last month, the water levels had risen by over 2 metres (see the blog for eye witness reports). The rate of rise was steady though, at about 300mm per hour. We are still waiting to record the fabled wall of water which has been reported in the past. Having now got a stable system, we are looking towards getting real time data, as currently all data is historic.

The Corkscrew

The lose rocks reported on the Corkscrew seem to have been stabalised and all looked to be in order last weekend. Suggest you keep your eyes open if as things have moved recently they may well do so again, but nothing to worry unduely about.

Trustees

The club is currently looking to identify some additional Trustees. This is a protracted affair that needs notification of nominees, supported by six members, to be available six weeks in advance of the AGM: the only time in the year when nominations can be approved. So, now is the time to start thinking through possible nominations, full details are in section 10 of the constitution.

Blog

The club Blog has been running since the end of July and is probably best seen as a replacement for the, now defunct, log book. It is where club members record their trips, but because it offers a little more scope for pictures it is in some ways closer the the sort of trip reports we see in the Newsletter. If you have not got round to having a look yet, I can highly reccomend it for an evening's perusal, some of my personal favourites are: Mendip caving,Ogof Marros,Twelve Days and Via Ferrata
